Lavender and
perfume
|
"
Ah lavender ! Lavender is the sun, it is the summer's heat itself,
and that smells good in perfumes for men. Lavender gives sparkle,
it gives spirit."
Radio
France, Françoise caron, "Of perfume and of days-lavender".

For
the perfume-makers,"lavender is a plant which in and of itself
has an outstanding olfactory quality²". And it certainly
appears that lavender counts among some of the most ancient elements
going into perfumed products.
Lavender was immensely popular during the 19th century, and introduced
men to world of perfume, heretofore reserved to women, with the
classic lavender waters such as English Lavender by Atkinsons and
Old English Lavender by Yardley.

Pour
un Homme from Caron proposes an elegant scent of lavender blended
with sensual Bourbon vanilla. Lavender is also found in the "fern"
family, mingling with woodsy notes, bergamot, coumarin, with a background
of oak moss: Paco Rabanne pour Homme, Moustache from Rochas, Arden
for Men from Elisabeth Arden, are just a few examples.
