Lavender
belongs to the Lamiaceae botanical family, a large family of plants
many of which grow wild in Provence. In addition to lavender, rosemary,
thyme, oregano, savoury and sage all are part of the universe of
plants which characterise the "garrigue", or rocky scrubland
in Provence.
These aromatic plants scent the air in the hills and gardens and
inspire regional cuisine.
